First Steps – Write a New Lesson or Copy & Edit

Write a New Lesson

To write a new lesson, from the CALI Author home page select Write a new lesson.

Copy & Edit an Existing CALI Lesson

Do you like an existing CALI Lesson but think it needs some changes before adopting it for your course? There are 1,200+ CALI Lessons available to copy and edit!

  • To copy and edit an existing CALI Lesson, select CALI Lessons from the CALI Author home page. Doing so will open a list of all publicly-available CALI Lessons.
    • You can also get to this list of available lessons by selecting the CALI Library tab from the My Lessons page.
  • Find the CALI Lesson you want to edit.
    • Tip: Use the filter feature to search and narrow the options.
  • From the icons to the right of the lesson, choose the one to Copy lesson to my Library. (Hovering over the icons will reveal their functions.)
Making a copy of the CALI Lesson opens your own copy of the lesson that you are free to work with. Editing this copy will not have any effect on the original lesson on the CALI website.
    • To simply view the lesson, choose the “eye” icon.
  • Your copy of the lesson will now appear in your My Lessons list where you can proceed to edit and ultimately publish it. It is then treated like any other self-authored lesson.

For detailed instructions on how to make edits, follow the Writing and Editing Instructions in this guide.
